BlueGrass Open March 27-28 2004,  The fourth annual BlueGrass Open was the best in recent memory.  God blessed the riders and support crew with some heavenly weather with balmy temperatures in the seventies.  If you didn't go home with a sunburn you weren't there.  Lunch was spectacular both days and the competition brought out some new faces and some old at the annual MGA family reunion.  Our deepest thanks to the riders, support crew and spectators who made the BlueGrass such a warm memory for everyone who participated.

     Thanks also to the organizing committee,  LeAnn Benevento, Cindy Miller, Betts Montgomery, Donna York, Liz Englert and Paul Greiling and to Luckett's Tack Shop, our angels who donated many of the prizes.  LeAnn spent all weekend indoors doing registrations, giving directions and good cheer and selling shirts to dressage riders, games riders and a 4-H group from New York.  Cindy Miller and Donna York did a spectacular job of feeding folks and announcers Clare Burkhart, Nancy Harmon, Kristen Textor, Rob Vit, Joanne Emblin and Liz Englert kept the action moving along. Thanks also to the spectacular set up crew and referees and especially Chief Referee Jim Dunn and apprentice referee Hans Kallenburger, who took over as chief referee at time.

  The A final was a tight competition between the Stars & Stripes Remix and the Cowboys.  In the end Remix edged ahead by two points and claimed the halters.  The Cowboys went home with the beautiful saddle racks donated by the Burkhart family.  In third was the Mod Squad and fourth was the Sizzling Soda pops (a team that met for the first time last weekend).

    In the B division the best accessorized team was also the winners of the saddle pads.  The Neon Nights took 1st, with Canada One claiming second place and the  Leaping Lizards taking third.

     In the For-Ever division Canada Eh beat out Canada Red .  Third went to the GTOs and fourth went to the US Worlds team (the Wannabees).  Fifth went to the Devils from Canada.  The competition was announced by a chorus of new voices.  Clare Burkhart took over the major announcing role and kept the competition lively with jokes, riddles and prizes!!       

    Thanks to the setup crew for their persistence even when the sun was brutal. If we have left your name out from the valiant, please let us know and we will add your name to the battle hardened.  There are so many to thank that sometimes the best and most essential folks can inadvertently be left off the list.
